The story of jeans ... It's no news to you that I haven't been the biggest friend of jeans for mainly one reason: they tend to look rather bad on me. Now, however, as I work in a company who is responsible for importing huge labels like Tommy Hilfiger, Pierre Cardin or Guess and they emphasize jeans-department a lot, I've worked for a while on learning what makes a pair of jeans good, what are the positive sides or downsides of a pair, the material, cut or difference between labels, not to even mention finding the suitable one for a client. Since the company started their journey from selling Lee Cooper, one of the best labels in denim-making there is, I'm very honored to have the chance to learn some new things as well! What I've learned in the past couple of days is that there is a pair of jeans for EVERY body. I didn't believe that earlier but really the catch is to find that pair for your body, taking in consideration every inch and moreover, you need to choose the label working best for you - for example Pierre Cardin is more of a slim cut and suitable for straight bodyshape when Mustang jeans have a wider cut and therefore are great for other body types, especially those people who struggle with the bottom area. When you go shopping for jeans, take it as an investment and don't hesitate spending a bit more. Also, if you are not 100% sure about your choices, get the help of the stores consultant because that's why we are there - to help you find best for you! :)
Now when talking about body shapes, it's actually not very hard to get your eye on right jeans! The key is to find balance. If you are a pear like me, you would like to get the attention away from your hips by putting emphasis on the knee-ankle part and therefore a slight bootcut jean is the best! It's not too wide but the slight wider part balances your hips perfectly. When choosing, definitely go for the ones with short waist because you wouldn't like to hide your gorgeous waiste in jeans! Also try different color solutions but keep in mind not putting too much attention on the hip area - darker wash will do more good for you :)
Hour-glass girl, how lucky you are being able to wear everything and rock those items with your beautiful curves! When choosing jeans, go far away from skinnys because they will make you look shorter and wider. As pears, you need to find something balancing and a nice flare or straight cut is ideal! Keep in mind the waist area and look for jeans with a little extra fabric on the bum-part - it will hug your curves and make the best of it :)
There is only one thing apples need to avoid - low waist. Go for the bootcut that will make your legs look longer and leaner, giving a nice optical illusion of those never-ending model-like legs. Now with the color you don't need to be afraid because you can attract all the attention downstairs and you can go bold with lighter distresed jeans. Explore different styles of jeans by keeping those things in mind!
You, banana-girls, are probably the ones everybody envy in jeans since when other body types have to avoid skinnies, they are in fact made for your body! Skinnies create curves and when other bodies usually want to hide their little bumps or balance it all, you have to give your body some volume and bring those hips and thighs out. Don't go for wide jeans because it won't do any good for you! Also, the more distressed, the better. Go with the sentence: the more the pair stands out, the better! :) Go bold!
I must admit I've always loved skinnies more, mainly because wider jeans made me feel not so old and trendy. Now it has changed and in fashion, jeans are rocking in no matter what cut - if you rock it out, people will love it. The worst thing you can do is to find jeans exactly opposite to your body shape. Explore the stores and try out different cuts for seeing the difference it makes!
Are you a fan of jeans? What type of jeans are your favourite? :)
