Welcome to the wonderland!

Hello lovelies!

Few days ago I got a lovely e-mail from Tripanista.com with a request of me showcasing the style that is most commonly worn over here in Estonia! I got so many ideas with it so I really wanted to do the post as soon as possible and there you go - the weather today was wonderful and we had loads of time to go on the town and do a little photo shoot as well. The outfit today is definitely not something you see in my blog usually, because I tend to go to the extremes and a huge part of common Estonian style isn't something I wear all the time. Then again there are many days when that kind of style is only option so I'm no stranger to it. :)

So, when I started thinking about Estonia's street style, 3 major words popped into my head:
1. Trendy
2. Comfortable
3. Classy

Trendy flow comes from the fact that Estonians really love to try out the trends that are in during the particular season - for example neon colors, floral jeans, massive jewellery .. They are very trend-loving people who always combine some of those very popular items in their everyday outfit and make it all pop out from the crowd!
Since the life is very hectic, there is no need to drive with a car - everything is near and it's more reasonable to walk everywhere, it's extremely important to feel 100% comfortable so you can run errands and not feel awkward with too high heels or tight skirt that doesn't allow you to bend over. Also, warmth is a very big deal over here because about half of the year is rather cold and staying warm is essential! That of course doesn't mean that we pile ourselves under sweaters and walk around in those. There are so many options - unique coats, many different accessories like hats, scarves, gloves etc and of course - boots.
Classy and elegant are two words that definitely describe the style in Estonia. People appreciate neat looks that seem nice to wear and look beautiful on you, but not tacky. That part of style can be quite hard to manage with but I'd recommend different shirts, blazers, pencil skirts and tights and pants that suit you well. As long as you feel good in it, it's all good!

When it comes to my outfit, I tried to portray those things I mentioned above - feeling comfy and warm, but mixing it all with some accessories and using the much loved neon trend to add a touch of uniqueness. I think it really works and I totally blend into the crowd with outfit like this. I must mention that I'm deeply in love with my boots! I am actually more of the extremely high heel girl, but since some days are very busy, I can't walk around in 8 inch heels all day - it's not very practical. Therefore, 3 years ago I found these German army boots for only 6 euros and I've adored them ever since!  I've got them repaired for several times and they have really gone through hell but they are still working and that kind of quality just blows my mind! Also, I've worn this coat for whole winter - it's about 75% wool and very very warm, but for me it has got a bit too boring; for the next winter I'll definitely find a more vibrant one :)

Here is a close up of my dear boots - as you see, they are quite done with themselves. Seems as this winter will be the last one for them .. :(

So you would get a better picture of what is actually worn here, here are some little collages of the items I've seen most often on the streets. There are of course so so so many more but I hope you get the idea - trendy, comfortable and classy.

 1. Boots  - The selection of boots is very wide but these are definitely the most common ones. Comfort comes first - we have to stay in the same footwear for about 8-10 hours sometimes so therefore I didn't really choose any very high heels to this collage. Wedges, UGGs, over-knee boots, combat boots - they are all very good!

 2. Coats - ... my love! Even though it's cold, it's a nice excuse to buy this amazing item. The selection has grown huge over the past few years and now you can see coats in pretty much every color there is, in different lengths, patterns, cuts, fabrics .. Fur did a huge come back this season, but good old wool coat hasn't gone everywhere.  There is only one type of outerwear I dislike - it's the plastic-replica one. Somehow it has become so so so popular over here but I think it does look a bit tacky. But hey - it's a matter of taste!

3. Accessories - Hats, gloves, scarves and glasses - those are the things that make the outfit complete so you wouldn't have to feel as too plain or boring! Just pump the outfit up with fun glasses, a cute hat and a floral scarf - you are good to go! Stylish, cute and staying warm, I think that's the best combination. :)

When I came up with the idea of this post, I realized how I found specific flows in the style and moreover - I saw how you can be stylish even if it's -20 degrees outside :)   Do you have any experience with styling yourself when it's freezing outside? Or maybe you have a very particular style in your city/country as well? Share your thoughts with me ! <3

Take care and stay warm! :)
