Hello lovelies! :)
Despite the fact that it's almost midnight, here I am, writing this post filled with energy and excitement! Sometimes it's a huge pain in the ass to be an "owl-person" and to stay up until 4am, doing work, blogging, sewing or whatever occurs in my mind .. But then again I wouldn't change that lifestyle! I've always got up to go to school or to work and honestly it doesn't matter whether I go to sleep 23pm or 4am - I'm still equally tired! At least after last semester and having fun time with psychology I finally found a logical explanation to my sleeping habits - it's just that my body works in that cycle and there's pretty much nothing I can do about it, haha. So here I am, bursting with energy (after my amazing coffee time! .. don't blame the coffee in my energetic mood) and it's going to be a long post!
The warm weather, that would mean about +2 degrees, and the amazing sparkling sun of course, made me be so inspired today! Even during the class of Estonian language I couldn't keep my pencil straight in my hand, I just had to draw and draw .. That reminded me that very soon I'd really ought to show you some of my older sketches, what do you think?
Not to turn away from the subject, today was a beautiful day for taking some outfit shots, which I'm very very glad about :) I was so anxious to wear my lovely boots finally without the jeans though I was a bit afraid whether they are going to suit well or not - turned out they fit perfectly with tights and skirts too! The thing with me when I'm dressing up is that I tend to pick one little detail in the outfit and then I "build" the whole outfit around it. In the morning, I knew only 3 things: 1) I want to wear a skirt, 2) I want to wear the skirt with my ankle boots and 3) I'm going to wear these sunglasses I adore so much.. And there you go! Before I knew it, I was wearing stripes all over! I enjoyed it so much - adding the jacket made the outfit much much classier and fancy, so I had to add a little pearl necklace too so I could emphasize the classy part of the outfit. Now why stripes you might ask? I adore stripes! Few years ago I honestly had about 5 sweaters and even more tops that were all monochromatic, I almost thought I'm insane. But now this spring they are one of the most trendy things to wear! I see stripes suddenly everywhere, put on every fashion item you could ever imagine! For me that fascinating trend means only one thing - it's time to raid my closet and find all the monochromatic items I have, haha. What do you think about this outfit?

As I mentioned, monochromatic items have suddenly turned into every fashionista's most-wanted trend items and even I have been influenced by it not even realizing. Monochromatic stripes are very classy and elegant, mainly because of the reserved colors and that pattern, but then again it's quite tricky element to style in your outfits - you have to be careful with choosing the wideness of the stripes and the direction of the stripes. For my body shape it was actually a very risky choice to wear horizontal stripes because they automatically give an illusion of wider shape so a girl who already has wide hips as I do, it isn't the best choice because the stripes emphasize the wideness even more. Then again, I wouldn't say I felt uncomfortable with wearing these kind of stripes - maybe it was because of the jacket and the shoes that stole the spotlight. Anyways vertical stripes are always better if you want to create a long lean shape and give instant illusion of thinner and taller figure. '
This is a set I randomly made one day in Fashiolista and only now I realized my love for this trend! You see how you can find pretty much anything in stripes? - Shoes, tops, skirts, pants, swimsuits, clutches .. not to even mention all the accessories! Which one do here do you like the best? For me these ultimate loves must be shoes and dresses - they are so edgy and fierce!
So you wouldn't get lost in all these stripes and wouldn't know what to match them with, I found some lovely example outfits give some ideas on how to wear this trend :) / Pictures from Google
Maxi skirt - See how these vertical stripes emphasize even more the tallness and lean shape? I adore that! I might even wear a skirt like that even though I'm not much of a fan when it comes to maxi skirts.
Striped pants/leggings/trousers - These are what stole my heart in the first place! I saw them everywhere about 2 years ago and since that I've longed for them! I really must buy one pair. I'm not a pants girl, but pants that make you slimmer and taller? I adore that idea!
In this case I love the idea of mixing the directions of the stripes, it adds so much depth to the dress.
This picture is actually from august 2011, which shows how this trend has slowly come to fashion, filling our hearts with love towards it. These maxi dresses look casual, summery and stylish - what else could you want!
This is most definitely my favorite example to show you. Miley's style has never been something overly amazing or stunning to me, but wow wow wow - this looks just breathtaking! She looks like elegant and stylish rocker and she isn't afraid to flaunt her figure in this dress. I love this bold way of wearing stripes and this outfit would be my top 1 for sure!
Since I own one amazing monochromatic jacket, I definitely adore this one! They just look way too cool on you :)
Last but not least - a striped dress with 2 different directions of lines. Somehow this is so cute and girly, but still adds so much depth to the whole look. 10 points for style towards lovely Sally from The Muv, who is the author of this great outfit.
So, what are your feelings towards monochromatic style and the stripes? Do you fan it or do you even own some items? Share your thoughts with me <3
Take care lovelies and rock on in your monochromatic style this spring! :)
